Digital Carpentry

This was an experiment with using blogging tools as a communications tools for an 3D CAD after school activity.

Digital Carpentry is an activity I ran at  YIS. Students explored the world of 3D graphics and Animation using form•Z. Students learned to build basic shapes, navigate 3D space and use the Boolean tool. They built this pavilion, the roof was created by stacking two pyramids on top of each other and the Boolean tool subtracted the bottom one from the other.

This week they’ll be learning to build this hour glass. The whole model will be built using the lathe tool. Color changes will be specified with the Paint Brush and Surfaces palette.
